At Wearableart by Dola,we work with artisans who are custodians of age old dyeing and printing techniques . Our efforts are to bring the story of our rich crafts legacy. ‘Kalkha’ is an ode to this age old craft of Block printing done manually. The wooden blocks are carved by artisans and each is intricately carved by hand. For ‘Kalkha’, we have used 3 blocks for each design- one for outlining and 2 for fillinng up with colours. The base fabric is a pure handloom cotton , woven in a loom in West Bengal. This saree is aesthetically beautiful with minute detailing and craftsmanship, and comfortable for the scorching months of summer! A saree that can be worn day long, for comfort and aesthetics!
