‘Jalodhar’ – is an Ode to the fine technique of needle Jamdani. It is a supplementary weft technique of weaving, where the artistic motifs are produced by a non-structural weft, in addition to the standard weft that holds the warp threads together. ‘Jalodhar’ has been woven by hand in a cluster in Bengal by a skilled woman. The colour is the colour of an overcast sky during Monsoons- Grey! Hence , the name ‘Jalodhar’ which means Clouds! It is Mul cotton of 120 thread count. Multi coloured threads have been used to weave by Jamdani technique the traditional ‘DerpaaR’ pattern on the border and motifs on the pallu.
