Mrittika has been an apt name for this saree! A hand woven cotton chosen as base fabric, with tie and dye done by hand as the crafting technique, the dyes used have been Organic Dyes that have been extracted from the bark of Arjun tree, ‘Bahora’ tree ( a local of Birbhum, Bengal), ‘Kattha’, Tea leaves and salt. The colours are therefore Earth colours- in various shades of brown and beige.
